Affiliate Disclosure
This page is the complete statement of how this site earns money, provided in the spirit of the FTC's endorsement guides and Amazon's Associates Program requirements. The short version: we earn commissions when you buy through our links, and the commissions never decide our verdicts.
The FTC disclosure
Homestead Gear Lab is a participant in affiliate programs, including the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click certain links on this site and make a purchase, we may earn a commission from the retailer. This costs you nothing additional; the commission is paid by the retailer.
Every article page carries a disclosure notice adjacent to the first affiliate link, and the site footer carries the disclosure sitewide, so no page of ours can put a purchase link in front of you without the commercial relationship being disclosed first.
The Amazon Associates statement
As an Amazon Associate, Homestead Gear Lab earns from qualifying purchases.
Prices and product availability shown on this site are indicative and were accurate as of the date each review was last verified; prices and availability are subject to change, and the live values are always those shown at the retailer at the moment you visit. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. Product names, logos, brands, and other trademarks featured or referred to on this site are the property of their respective trademark holders, and their use here does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by those holders. Questions about this disclosure can be sent to hello@homesteadgearlab.com.
How commissions work in practice
Affiliate links on this site are labeled by the retailer they lead to, carry the rel nofollow sponsored attribute, and point to the specific product page we tested. They are never cloaked, shortened, or disguised, in line with both the Associates Program operating agreement and our own standards page.
We do not participate in pay per placement, sponsored rankings, preferential link exchanges, or any program that moves a product up or down a list for money. Machines we test and reject carry no purchase link at all.
What commissions do not buy
They do not buy a verdict. Our scores come from a published testing protocol with recorded measurements, our not recommended sections exist precisely because the no is worth more than the link, and the independence rules that make that possible are written out in full on our editorial standards page.
